Tonight

Tonight I'm taking My Jane Austen Action Figure out of the box and placing her
on my desk. This would be the desk with the original Olympia typewriter on
it, given to me by Theresa Williams. Since I've last written to you, I've
become the proud owner of another Olympia (with an art-deco case, I'm becoming a
total snob), and now Jane is going to provide the vehicle for my creative
expression. Cryptic, I know, but there it is.

In the past two months, thoughts like so many migratory birds passing by have flown through my head. I am neither the beginning nor the end of these thoughts.

Totally unrelated department: I’m having a small dinner birthday party in a few weeks. I was going to grill steak with a Monterey steak rub. Guess what? I lost the recipe. Can you help me find one, or do you have a suggestion? Also, any tips on a good wine to serve with it? I’m a chef in need of some help!

So great to see you back on your porch. Your writing space sounds like it's becoming very awesome! Sorry, I don't have a recipe for the kind of steak you want to cook
--time to go Googling!

Gosh I'm so glad to see a new entry. (I check every day, you know...!)

I've just discovered there is finally a Carl Jung Action Figure. I'll have to get him so Freud'll have some company (actually, it'll piss ol' Siggy off...). They'll have to fight over Jane next time I visit. Won't that be fun?

Hey-o, girlfriend--show us the Deco case. I wanna see!

P.S. Not a good enough cook to offer a recipe...and my palate is totally unrefined in terms of wine. (I'm much better at recommending a really fine root beer...)

I've never even heard of Monterey steak rub, so if you find the recipe,I'd love it if you shared.

Hard to match a heavy rub, try a middling cabernet.
Glad to see you on your porch!
Hugs,

The typewriters sound delightful, so full of memory and wish. About the party recipe---why not consider a vegetarian meal? See www.delicioustv.com. There is so much to eat without eating meat. Sliced eggplant, peppers, and portobello mushrooms are great on the grill. For protein consider lentils, beans, nuts, soy, and for me, as a last resort, tofu. Though soft silken tofu makes a great chocolate "cream" pie that does not need to be refrigerated, and the meat-eaters in my family devour it.
